Chalkline is software that calculates what an hour of your labour costs you and what you would have to charge to reach a margin you choose. You use it in your browser, and once you are subscribed you may also install it on your own computer.
14 days, free, with no card required and nothing to cancel. At the end of it the software stops opening until a card is entered. Nothing you have typed in is deleted at any point.
$79 per month. One price for your business however many people work in it — there is no charge per user.
It is a monthly subscription that renews automatically until you stop it. There is no contract and no minimum term. Card payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or hold your card number.
If the price ever changes it changes for new customers. It will not be raised on you while your subscription is running.
Cancel whenever you like and you are not charged again. The software stops opening at the end of the period you have paid for. Your figures are not deleted, so subscribing again later picks up where you left off.
If your first month is not what you expected, ask within 30 days of that first payment and it is refunded in full. After that, cancelling stops the next payment rather than refunding the last one.
Cards expire and banks decline for no reason. If a payment fails you have 7 days, and the software keeps working the whole time, while you sort it out.
You own everything you enter. You can take it with you at any time: the desktop version brings the lot down onto your own computer as an ordinary file in a folder you can open and copy.
Chalkline is a calculator. It works out figures from what you enter, and shows how it arrived at each one so you can check it. It is not accountancy, tax or legal advice, and the numbers it produces are yours to review before you price work off them. Wage rates, tax rates and insurance rates change; the starting figures it offers are typical for a trade, not a statement about your business.
One subscription covers one business. Do not resell it or share your licence with another company. If you run two businesses, say so and we will sort something out rather than you paying twice.
The browser version depends on this website being up, and no website is up every minute of the year. The desktop version does not: it keeps running whether or not it can reach us, which is deliberate.
An account may be closed if it is used to break these terms. You would be told why, and given your figures.
